Lingu@netWork is an EU Commission funded project (2013/14) aiming to create a dynamic, interactive and up-to-date website in support of multilingualism. The project built on the Lingu@net World Wide website, using the excellent and quality assured catalogue of resources for language learning and teaching.
The new Lingu@net World Wide will be attractive to users with its multilingual interface (the new features will be developed in eight major languages and two LWULT languages), maximising the potential for people to communicate virtually and learn languages across the world, thus supporting migrants as well as hard to reach communities.
Users will be actively involved by commenting, rating and creating resources and interaction will be made possible via online professional interest groups for particular languages or particular areas of pedagogy across languages, as well as forums.
In addition, the project will also update and extend the range of resources accessible via Lingu@net to include more authentic, non-pedagogic material such as literary and journalistic online texts and user generated texts. This will increase the effectiveness of the site as a source of languages “in use” as well as languages “for teaching and learning”.
The new Lingu@net World Wide went live November 14th, 2014 and was presented at Expolingua Berlin, November 21st and 22nd, 2014 (programme). Have a look at www.linguanet-worldwide.org to see exciting new resources already added. Get involved by suggesting good language learning and teaching resources or by becoming a friend on Facebook and following us on Twitter.
